Macro Monday - In the Door

Zoey has become one of my favorite things to photograph.  She's cute, that's for sure, but she will tolerate me sticking the camera in her face.  Bandit turns away and would really I rather not take his picture, thank you very much.  Zoey was sitting in the door in the sunshine watching the kids play outside.  I love her crazy little whiskers.

Sunday Stills - the Letter "T"

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!  We shared a quiet holiday, just the three of us and the pooches, and a nice relaxing weekend.

This week's Sunday Stills Challenge is the letter "T".  I didn't manage to get a picture of the turkey since T and I were feeding the horses but I managed to find other things.

T is for Toy - Bandit and Zoey playing

Just a Hint of Sun

Yesterday dawned cold, very windy and spitting rain.  The sun broke through a little bit in the afternoon but we still had 20 mile an hour winds.  I guess winter is really starting to set in.

Jax

This is Jax, a friend's Rottweiler.  He's a purebred, complete with ear tattoo, who somehow ended up at the local shelter.  My friend adopted him and now he's got a great life.  I love this picture because he was looking up at her.

The Western Horse Does English

Even though we mostly ride Western, T does occasionally drag out her English saddle.  She hasn't been able to ride Zip with her English tack yet since he's much bigger than the horses we have had most recently and he needed a bigger  girth.  After a trip to the local consignment tack shop, we found the right size for a super cheap price.  So the Western range horse was a hunter/jumper for a day.

We set up a small crossrail jump to see how he would do.  He's an honest jumper who does what's asked of him with grace.  T had fun and Zip learned a new skill.  We have all winter to get him ready for show season next year.  Poor horse has no idea what he's in for :)

Macro Monday - Begging

Zoey is growing like a weed and looks like she's twice the size she was when we brought her home.  She knows how to sit and her bag of tricks now includes laying down, sitting up and we are trying to teach her how to speak.  This is the typical look when she's waiting for a treat.

Sunday Stills - Horses

This week's Sunday Stills Challenge is Horses.  This was a total no-brainer for me as most of my pics are of horses - my sleep-deprived self thanks you, Ed :)  I even have an online photo gallery dedicated to just horses.  The hardest part of this challenge was selecting the photos.

Jet enjoying a back scratch while Zip looks on
I had a pic posted earlier this week where they were both rolling at the same time

A very tired and sweaty Zip focusing on the barn
My daughter is training him for gymkhanas and barrel racing and had just finished up in the ring

A two year old gelding at the farm where I board my horses
He was standing in the entrance to the shed in the sunlight

A pony named Cookie
She has the most adorable face and blue eyes

Zip at the hay feeder
Jet was off hanging with the girls in the pasture and decided he really didn't want me to catch him

Bandit wasn't too sure about this

When we got Bandit from the shelter last year, he was a nervous nellie and wouldn't sit still for very long.  If he was laying on the floor next to the couch and you got up, he would jump up to stay with you.  He's mellowed considerably but he would really rather that Zoey not lay on him.  She obviously doesn't care since she laid on his tail.  He was quite unnerved by this but sat still as long as someone was scratching behind his ears.  Zoey doesn't take no for an answer.  It makes me chuckle.  She's not mean about it, just oblivious.  I think it's good for him.

Synchronized Rolling

We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather on Sunday.  T and I both rode and because it was so warm and their winter coasts are growing in, both horses got sweaty.  Jet got a bath and Zip got hosed off.  Zip got his feet trimmed and both of them had their manes and tails detangled.  So of course, at the first opportunity, they rolled - in the old hay.  Then the moved off and rolled again in the dirt.  It's a good thing I have brown horses :)  Hides the dirt better.

Macro Monday - Puppy Fuzz

One of Zoey's favorite things to do is sit in the window and check out everything outside.  We had mild weather over the weekend and had the windows open.  She had fun sniffing the breeze.

Sunday Stills - Fins, Feathers and Fur

This week's Sunday Stills Challenge - Fins, Feathers and Fur.  The fur and fins part was easy.  Feathers made me think a bit.

Sunday Stills - Currency

This week's Sunday Stills Challenge is Currency.  Over the years, we have collected coins from all over the world.  Some were Craig's grandfather's, others we picked up here and there, and some relatives gave us from trips.  All three of us dug through the coins yesterday morning to see what we had.  We sorted them out by country and had a lot of fun trying to figure some of them out.  I decided to use US Currency for the Sunday Stills Challenge and showcase some of the other coins for Macro Monday.

The pile of coins, right out of the bag we stored them in

A Santa Dollar, and yes, it is really a dollar that you could spend if you wanted to

Buffalo Nickels

All of the US coins, featuring the Alaska state quarter from 2008

Half dollars and Silver Dollars

"What do you have in your pocket?"

Stalker

Zoey is definitely a herding dog.
She routinely "stalks" Bandit, her toys, the frisbee, pretty much anything she can focus on.
