This was taken a couple of days after and the swelling had gone down quite a bit. I ended up going to Urgent Care to get checked out a week after it happened because it still hurt. They x-rayed the right foot and my left knee. No evidence of fractures but bad bruising and they gave me a post-op boot to wear for a week. It's slowly feeling better with each day.
This was with trail hiking sneakers and socks on. I can't even imagine what my foot would have looked like if I had flip flops on. I would have had some broken bones for sure.
I had the same thing, same foot. The mare we used to have, born and raised here who was never one of my favorites decided one day she was going to swing her hip at me and STOMPED my foot. Like serious intentions to harm me because normally she was very light to move off my request when I poked her hindquarters but that time she shifted her weight after stomping right on that leg. Good thing I had a hoof pick because hollering, hitting etc did not get it through to her she needed to move like yesterday but a hoof pick at the brick for brains did. I feel kinda bad for saying it but when that mare died I was not really that upset she was a PITA but a good driving horse.
Zip didn't mean to do it. He wanted to get in the ring and run his class. He's pretty mild mannered for the most part and backed up as soon as he did it.
Ouch! I've had numerous x-rays of the same foot, all due to being stepped on. No broken bones; but one time I had a bruise that looked exactly like a skull which was weird.

Ouch! Have had hoof meet ankle before. Hurts like heck!
Right across those little foot bones... Ouch.
I hope it is healing now.

One more reason for me not to wear flip flops in the horse lot.
Heal quickly.
