Snow

The snow storm that wasn't supposed to hit us ended up dumping about 8 inches of snow.  It's hard to tell how much we actually have as the storm also brought 40 mph wind gusts and lots of drifts.  North and east of us got more than twice that amount so all in all, I'm ok with what we ended up with.  The horses weathered the storm just fine and were out in the winds today snacking on hay.  Way too windy and too much blowing snow to take pics but this is from my back door.  You can see the grass where the snow has blown into drifts.

Macro Monday - Gingerbread House

One of the fun things at the 4H holiday dinner was the gingerbread houses that were decorated.  One of the 4H leaders, Leslie, made 40 little gingerbread houses and each kid brought a bag of candy to decorate.  This is the house that T created.

It's a really clever idea and the kids had a blast decorating their houses.

Holiday Party

Monday night, Teva had a holiday party at Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles.  We boarded 2 buses and headed out to the stadium.  I'm not a huge football fan but it was pretty cool to take the tour and see the locker room and press box and stand on the field.  We had really great appetizers and a fantastic dinner.  Three of the players were there to sign autographs and take pics.  Vince Papale was also there.  It was really fun to chill out with the great people I work with!

Still Busy

I'll get blog posts up this week, I promise.  There just doesn't seem to be enough days in the week or hours in the day.  We are scrambling to get holiday packages mailed out.

Monday night, the company I work for, Teva Pharmaceuticals, hosted a holiday party at Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles.  I'm not a huge football fan but it was pretty cool to do a tour of the locker room, press box and walk onto the field.  I'll post pics later this week.  I left for work at 6:40 AM and didn't get home until 9:30 PM.

Tonight is the holiday party for 4H.  Pizza, lots of food, a scarf exchange, gingerbread houses, lots going on.  Before you know it Christmas will be here!

Macro Monday - Peacock

This guy was one of 2 male peacocks that we encountered on a farm over the weekend.  They are both pretty tame and you can get really close to them.  I love the feathers on top of his head.

Shadows and Light

Zoey is one of my favorite subjects to shoot pics of.  She isn't afraid of the camera or flash and will pretty much pose for me (Bandit doesn't really like the camera and will look away when I try to take pics).

Winter Choral Concert

T has been involved with chorus since elementary school and hopes to continue all through high school.  Twice a year, in the winter and spring, each school holds a choral concert.  This year there is over 200 kids in the combined choir for 3 grades.  The school has a really cool auditorium with fantastic acoustics and sound system.

There's so many kids that I couldn't fit them all in one shot, even though I took this from the last row in the auditorium

During her grade's performance, second row, pretty much dead center

All of the kids do an amazing job!

Stay Tuned

Still here, still playing catch up....On top of our usual schedule, we had a choral concert last week, my stepfather got married on Sunday, the Buxmont holiday dinner last night plus an issue with the Internet.  I've got lots of pics to get through and edit and will have more to post later.

Sunday Stills - Pets

This week's Sunday Stills Challenge is Pets.  This was a perfect challenge for me since I had just taken some new pics of Zoey and Bandit, inside while playing around with flash photography.

Zoey - She's so easy to take pics of.  She doesn't mind the flash at all.

A Cold Portrait

We switched horses and posed for a pic.  Notice I look like I'm ready for a blizzard while my offspring just looks a little cold around the edges.  We switched back and I rode bareback and took advantage of Rooster's warm coat.

Bundled Up

The weather has turned cold and windy which makes for lots of layers.  The horses are all growing heavy coats and I've resorted to big bulky multi-layeredjackets, gloves, hats (even under my riding helmet) and boots.  Rooster has turned into quite the hairy beast and he looks like he's got snow pants on his legs.  We ventured out of the arena for a very short time over the weekend but the wind was so fierce and cold and he was spooking a bit so back in the arena we went.

We both resemble the Michelin Man (or the Sta-Puf Marshallow Man - take your pic)
I haven't had much time to add new posts on my blog or comment on others but I have been lurking and reading so please don't think I've forgotten about you!  Thank goodness that Blogger allows you to schedule posts or I would never get anything done...

Peaceful Pond

The mallard ducks have taken up residence in the pond in the pasture.  Not sure how long they will stay but they sure are pretty.
