Look close - the dots above Rooster's head are actually gnats and they are so annoying. They are one of the reasons that I don't trim their ear and let their manes and forelocks grow.
I don't show my horses, so I have never trimmed my horses. I figure it is natural and I don't need to trim! I agree, it sure helps with the bugs for them.
