Covered Bridge

We came upon this bridge on a back road in Lenhartsville PA.
This is the Dreibelbis Station Bridge, built in 1869
I did a little research.  It spans the Maiden Creek and is one of one 5 covered bridges left in Berks County

White Tail Buck

This guy was hanging out in a field near my house.  He certainly blended in well.

Saddlebred Mare

This girl came through the auction, then a rescue, and then a private buyer.  Best we can tell, she was an Amish buggy horse, a Saddlebred mare.  She was in quarantine waiting for her new home when I took this pic.  She leaves for that home today.  We wish her well in her new life!

Resident Red Tail

This hawk has become a fixture in our pastures.  Not sure if it's a young bird or a rescue but he's not very afraid of people and you can get pretty close to him.  I spent about an hour sitting about 15 feet away just snapping away while he hunted in the grass.  Very
cool to be able to see him up close.

More Gypsy Mare Photos

The farmer has had this mare for about 3 years and she's so cute.  She's a gypsy cob - not very big but she is sturdy.  She's due to foal in the next 2 weeks but she's still got some pep to her.  I edited and added textures to these photos and loved the way they came out.

Love the markings!

She made a nice contrast to the green around her

Such a cute face!

The cutest mini

We stopped at a farm in Kutztown and there is the cutest mini stud.  He's tiny - under 30 inches high but he's got an attitude of a much bigger horse.

He looked so cute in the wildflowers.

Macro Monday - Wildflowers

I saw these in the field and the sun seemed perfect.  These are very common, more like weeds, but so pretty.  If you look closely, you can see a bug coming in for a landing.

Alfred Davis

Alfie is the latest edition to the herd.  His papered name is Alfred Davis and he is a registered Haflinger.  He looks bigger but he's only 14 hands.  What a personality and quite the pocket pony.  He rides and has been driven single, double and three across plus he's been used for logging.

Unfortunately for us, Cowboy didn't work out like we hoped but he has moved on to a trail riding life and we wish him well.

Playing with Texture

I was totally bummed out when I found out that my favorite photo editor, Picnik, was closing.  In the e-mail that I received, there were some suggestions for alternate photo editors.  One of them was PicMonkey, which was created by some former engineers at Picnik.  I was so happy that I found this!!  I have been experimenting with the effects and the textures available.  The photo from Sunday Stills was done using the paint texture.

I love how sometimes editing can completely transform a photo!

Sunday Stills - Vintage

This week's Sunday Stills Challenge is Vintage.  I took a pic of a turkey vulture soaring past the roof of the old barn.  I did some editing and added texture and he's what I came up with.  The barn is vintage and to me the pic looks like an old painting.

Sunday Stills - Reflections

This week's Sunday Stills Challenge is Reflections.  I took while riding Rooster on the trails at the farm.  I thought the reflection of the vine was so cool.
