Riding on the Road

It's been a long winter and we haven't been able to ride much other than in the field or the half frozen ring.  We took the horses on the road for the first time this month.  It was so nice to be out and about!

Shadow

My back is acting up so not much riding lately but I did manage to get a ride in today on my steady Rooster in the sunshine.

Meandering

Wandering around the ring on Roo with my new (for me) treeless saddle. Can't do much because of a bad back but it's still nice to ride.

Bugs!

Look close - the dots above Rooster's head are actually gnats and they are so annoying.  They are one of the reasons that I don't trim their ear and let their manes and forelocks grow.

Kicking up some dirt

The weather on the weekend was awesome and the horses were running around enjoying it.

It's hard to see but all four were running from field to fie.d

Hitting the Road

T and I took a ride down the road from the farm yesterday.  The weather was gorgeous - blue skies, sun, a bit of chilly wind but it was still really nice.  Since I was sick for so long, I didn't ride for about 2 months and I feel like I am just now getting my strength and wind back.  I saddled up Rooster and T took Zip.  Since I ride bareback most days, this was the first time that I had saddled Roo since November.  We set off with my fingers crossed for a quiet and easy ride.  Roo was in power walker mode with a little trot and a canter thrown it but it was a very nice ride.  So nice to be back in the saddle again!

Let the Shedding Commence!

It certainly doesn't feel like spring most days but don't tell Rooster.  This is one swipe down his back.  It's coming off in sheets.  Every time I groom him it looks like we have left a dog on the ground.

Playing in the Creek

I haven't had many chances to ride lately (usually once a week) but when I do, it's usually on the trails and in the creek.  Saturday was the hottest day of the year so far and T and I took Rooster and Zip to cool off in the creek.  The best therapy in the world!

Playing with Texture

I was totally bummed out when I found out that my favorite photo editor, Picnik, was closing.  In the e-mail that I received, there were some suggestions for alternate photo editors.  One of them was PicMonkey, which was created by some former engineers at Picnik.  I was so happy that I found this!!  I have been experimenting with the effects and the textures available.  The photo from Sunday Stills was done using the paint texture.

I love how sometimes editing can completely transform a photo!

Peaceful....

Last weekend I sat in the grass and took pics of the horses quietly grazing in the grass.  It was so peaceful...
